Index Analysis Never Completes

entered stored procedure, selected "Get Actual Plan". When I select the "Index Analysis" tab the tool just spins, never completes.

Is your table partitioned? Are you using the latest build of Plan Explorer? We have an issue logged about this (#28023) that has been fixed in 11.0.84.

Yes they are. The table that is partitioned which each statement hits is the tran_detail table.

Great, what is the version of Plan Explorer? Have you turned off or ignored prompts to update?

Just used the tool to check for updates, did not find any. I will manually go look.

We have an issue logged about this (#28023) that has been fixed in 11.0.84 – it occurs when the target table has partitioning.

Please update Plan Explorer to the latest version, and the issue should go away.

I would probably contact support to find out why you had to manually seek an update, though; Plan Explorer should have found the latest version and offered it to you.
